#Dazed: Nils Frahm and Woodkid are releasing an album for refugees
The mini-LP, titled Ellis, will be released on July 8 alongside a short film of the same name, with all proceeds reportedly going to charity Sea Watch.
“The music fell into our laps and melted with the images: a wonderful experience,” revealed Frahm in a statement. “The film has stuck in my head ever since; it moved my heart and changed my soul.”
The short, which was directed by acclaimed artist JR, stars De Niro as an immigrant wandering through New York’s Ellis Island hospital. Frahm and Woodkid’s accompanying soundtrack will also feature spoken word contributions from the actor.
“Robert says it all in 17 minutes,” Frahm added. “We are not facing a refugee crisis. We are facing a crisis because we do not embrace, we do not sympathise and we cannot give up fear. Art can encourage so I hope this project will help fight the fear in all of us.”
Ellis will be released on July 8 via Erased Tapes. Watch the full trailer for the film above.
